Topic: Healthcare Cybersecurity at an Inflection Point: Emerging Threats, Systemic Vulnerabilities, and the Future of Risk Management
Abstract: Healthcare is experiencing a dramatic shift in its cyber risk landscape as digitization accelerates, threat actors grow more sophisticated, and care delivery becomes increasingly interconnected. In this seminar, Clearwater Chief Product Officer Jon Stone will explore the most consequential cybersecurity trends shaping the industry today—from AI-enabled attacks and expanding third-party risk to vulnerabilities in cloud architectures, medical devices, and clinical workflows.

Drawing on real-world incident patterns, regulatory developments, and insights from Clearwater’s Enterprise Cyber Risk Management platform, Jon will outline why traditional compliance-driven approaches are no longer sufficient and how next-generation risk management models can support resilience, patient safety, and operational continuity. Students will gain a forward-looking perspective on how security informatics can drive meaningful change in one of the world’s most targeted and complex sectors.

Speaker: Jon Stone is a seasoned innovator and strategic leader with extensive experience across healthcare compliance, information technology, cybersecurity, and quality improvement. Throughout his career, he has led complex initiatives involving sensitive ePHI for leading organizations such as Cigna, Healthways, and OptumInsight. A certified program manager and risk professional, Jon brings a unique blend of technical expertise, policy insight, and executive leadership to his role as Senior Vice President of Product Innovation and Chief Product Officer. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Lee University and a Master of Public Administration in Healthcare Policy from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
