Three faculty members from the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering have been named as Fellows of IEEE, the highest designation that the IEEE bestows and that recognizes those who have made outstanding contributions to IEEE fields of interest.

IEEE members, who number more than 400,000 and come from 160 countries, are leaders in fields including aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications, biomedical engineering, and electric power and consumer electronics. Fewer than 0.1 percent of the organization’s voting members are elevated to Fellow annually.

Ashutosh Dutta

Dutta is a senior wireless research scientist and the Lawrence R. Hafstad Sabbatical Fellow at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and an adjunct faculty member in the Information Security Institute. He was recognized for leadership in mobility management and security monitoring in mobile networks.

Michael I. Miller

Miller is the Bessie Darling Massey Professor, director of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Center for Imaging Science, as well as co-director of the Kavli Neuroscience Discovery Institute. He was recognized for contributions to medical imaging, brain mapping, and computational anatomy.

Tza-Huei (Jeff) Wang

Wang is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and a member of the Institute for NanoBioTechnology. He was recognized for contributions to micro- and nano-technologies for biomedical applications.
